You’re hired: New apprentice joins Base Energy

Base Energy has welcomed a new apprentice to the team!

Liam Rushton, who is 18, has been enrolled on our eighteen-month programme, which gives youngsters an introduction to the construction work industry, with a specific focus on the built and sustainable environment.

He is the fifth apprentice to join the successful training scheme which has seen all previous candidates go on to secure full-time employment with us.

Liam will be following in the footsteps of last year’s apprentice, Bethany Lloyd, who has now taken on the permanent role of accounts administrator.

As well as gaining practical on the job training, by the end of the apprenticeship, Liam will receive a level three diploma in business administration.

Pete Kinsella, managing director for Base Energy, said: “We’re proud to be one of the only building sustainability consultant companies in the region to offer this kind of apprenticeship.

“We believe it is important to invest in and retain local talent. This is a fantastic opportunity for Liam to work, whilst gaining valuable skills and training for a promising career in the industry.

“Liam is the third person to join our team this year as business continues to thrive and we are looking forward to having his help and support.”

Speaking about his new role, bright spark-Liam, who completed his A-levels this summer, said: “I did really well in my exams but felt university wasn’t for me. I wanted to get some practical business experience and learn on the job, which is exactly what this apprenticeship offers.

“I’m really grateful that Base offers opportunities like these as it’s incredibly hard for young people to get a step up on the career ladder.”
