A Barista in a garden centre coffee shop. It took me through college for two years and I absolutely loved it! How did you get into the building industry? I recently returned from almost three years away travelling, and I fancied venturing into something different. It’s a very interesting industry and no two days or queries are the same. What is your day to day role? I work in Sales and Marketing. I provide quotations to clients, respond to telephone and email queries and follow up quotes and jobs with potential customers, as well as Marketing. What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given? Go a little out of your depth, and when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the ground, you’re just about in the right place to do something new and exciting. David Bowie said that! Coffee or tea? Tea, always tea! Classic English Breakfast (nice and strong, no sugar) and Yogi’s Lime Peppermint. Proudest achievement to date? When I was younger taking the plunge to go travelling! It was a great experience and taught me many life lessons. I also ran a half marathon recently which was great and for a good cause, raising money for a local charity. I have just entered for the London Marathon next year so hopefully that’ll be my next achievement! How do you like to unwind? Yoga, running, cooking, going to see live music and chilling with my cats. What would you say to young people entering the industry? Do your research and try and get some work experience. It’s such a diverse industry with so many different fields so explore it and find your niche. If you ruled the world for a day… I’d end all poverty What’s the best thing about working at Base? I’m always learning something new, the people are great and there’s many prospects.
