1. What was your first job?

I was a steward at Liverpool FC during my teens.

2. How did you get into the building industry?

While I was at university, I worked for a company called Soundtesting UK, an acoustic consultants and air leakage specialist. I really enjoyed it and decided to stay on and do my degree on part time basis so I could get as much experience as possible. I was there for a few years and did all my training in energy calculations and BREEAM.

3. What project are you currently working on?

Lot’s of projects, an interesting one is trying to achieve a 20% improvement over building regulations without renewable technologies.

4. What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

The best advice I was given, was to always stay focused and keep moving forward. This has helped me with the development of my business.

5. Coffee or tea?

Good coffee and I’m possibly addicted.

6. Proudest achievement to date?

Starting up a new business.

7. How do you like to unwind?

Movie and a glass of red.

8. What would you say to young people entering the industry?

Work hard and do lots of reading up.

9. If you ruled the world for a day…

I would make all the politicians live in small affordable houses with little money. Then if I’ve got time, get rid of fossil fuels and make everyone recycle.

10. What’s the best thing about working at Base?

The team, we have a good bunch of staff.
